Sunderland’s Fabio Borini replaces Ignacio Scocco
In January 2014 Sunderland made an interesting swoop for Argentine striker Ignacio Scocco. Gus Poyet brought in the one-cap Albiceleste international from Brazilian side Internacional. According to Sky Sports the player cost Sunderland £3 million.
But you would not find many Sunderland fans with anything good to say about the striker.

He played just eight times for the club, failed to score, and after six months, was shipped back to former club Newell’s Old Boys. In what is his third spell at the club he has endured a difficult time off the pitch, with the club struggling financially.
It has left him being linked with a move away from the club, with another former team in AEK Athens keen. According to a report from La Capital, Independiente are also looking at his potential signature.

Sunderland will hope this move does go through. According to the report Sunderland are still owed around £470,000 from the move back to Argentina three years ago.
Any deal with Independiente would reportedly see them pay that debt to Sunderland as well.
