Sunderland are reportedly considering Alan Pardew as a candidate to become their new manager.

According to ESPN, Sunderland are considering a shock move to make Alan Pardew their new manager this summer following David Moyes’ departure.
The Black Cats lost 5-1 away at champions Chelsea on Sunday to end their Premier League campaign, with their relegation to the Championship long confirmed.
Sunderland’s season has been a complete disaster from start to finish, and they finished a whopping 16 points adrift of safety having managed to win just six times in 38 games.
On Monday, manager David Moyes decided that he was no longer the right man for the job at the Stadium of Light, as the Scot – who was appointed as Sam Allardyce’s replacement last summer – handed in his resignation.

Sunderland will be searching for a new manager yet again as they seek to navigate their way back to the Premier League from the Championship – and ESPN claim that the club are at least considering a shock move for Alan Pardew.
Pardew, 55, has been out of management since losing his job as Crystal Palace boss back in December, with the Eagles hovering precariously around the relegation zone at the time of his departure.

Pardew may now want a return to management, and may have to drop down into the Championship to rebuild his reputation again, with Sunderland potentially able to offer him a route back into the game.
However, Pardew would surely be one of the most unpopular targets for Sunderland from a fan perspective. Whilst Black Cats fans took great joy in laughing at Pardew’s torrid spell as Newcastle manager and actively wanted him to stay at St. James’ Park, they know all too well how divisive he was on Tyneside, and would fear a similarly fractious atmosphere coupled with poor results should Pardew arrive at the Stadium of Light.
