Bowyer’s work under difficult circumstances at both Blackpool and Blackburn Rovers is said to appeal to Sunderland.

Sunderland are considering Blackpool’s Gary Bowyer as their next manager, according to the Daily Mirror (May 1st, page 46).
The report claims Bowyer’s work under difficult circumstances at both Blackpool and Blackburn Rovers is appealing to Sunderland, who are searching for Chris Coleman’s successor.

The 46-year-old has led Blackpool to 12th in their first season back in League One, having taken them up last term, and is guaranteed a top half finish if Bristol Rovers fail to win their final game of the campaign.
But the prospect of managing a club of Sunderland’s stature could be hard for Bowyer to ignore, should an approach come in.
The Mackems are set to begin a new era in the third tier, with Eastleigh chairman Stewart Donald their prospective new owner.
Meanwhile, Derby County coach, and legendary ex-Sunderland striker, Kevin Phillips is another Stadium of Light target, according to the Sun.
