According to a report from the Sunderland Echo, Sunderland are closing in on four new signings after progress was made on three potential deals in the last 24 hours.

Despite it certainly being an incredibly eventful summer at the Stadium of Light so far with the Black Cats finding new owners and appointing a new manager, the club are yet to kick off their summer spending with no players arriving permanently or on loan thus far.

And with the Sunderland Echo reporting that both Paddy McNair and Jason Steele appear to be closing in on moves away, the Sunderland fans would perhaps be forgiven for having some concerns after going into this campaign off the back of two relegations and a host of uninspiring windows along the way.

However, it would appear that Sunderland supporters may soon have something to cheer about, as the Sunderland Echo reports that four signings are edging closer with talks over the last day accelerating three of the moves on their radar. The report suggests that two strikers, a central midfielder and a central defender are in talks.

And the Sunderland Echo adds that a medical for one of the players is now imminent. The potential signings are not named, but given some of the names who have been linked in the last couple of months, it could perhaps be an exciting couple of days for the club if Jack Ross lands some of his main targets.

There is arguably a very promising squad that Ross can build upon in the coming months, and if new owner Stewart Donald does back him in the window, perhaps the fans will go into next season more than confident that they will be on the move again in regards to which division they are playing in the following year.
