Sunderland are looking for defensive cover, and look like securing the signature of Marc Wilson.
Marc Wilson controls the ball for Stoke City
Sunderland have made a loan bid to sign Marc Wilson and the Bournemouth man is expected to complete a deal to the Championship today, according to the Sun. The report suggests that the Black Cats are desperately looking for reinforcements at the back, and have been rebuffed in an attempt to sign defender Tommy Elphick, leading to them turning their attention to the former Stoke City man.
Simon Grayson manager of Sunderland
Wilson spent the second half of last season on loan at West Brom, making 4 Premier League appearances for the Baggies, after moving to Bournemouth at the beginning of the season.
The Republic of Ireland international has not made a single appearance for the Cherries (in the Premier League) and looks surplus to requirements at Deal Court.
West Brom has been the only team to have been linked with the 30-year-old (according to the Express and Star) earlier in the window, although the trail has gone quiet since then. That should pave the way for Simon Grayson to secure his man.

Although he might not be the biggest name linked with a move to the Stadium of Light, he could be an important squad player as Sunderland aim to jump right back into the Premier League.
