David Moyes is said to have checked on McGinn in action on Friday, but West Brom could rival Sunderland to the 22-year-old’s signature.

David Moyes is hoping to “steal a march” on West Bromwich Albion and other rivals suitors by watching Hibernian midfielder John McGinn in action, reports the Daily Mail.
The Sunderland boss is said to be one of several admirers in the 22-year-old, whom he went to see in action against Dundee United on Friday.
McGinn has scored four goals and created six for Hibernian this season, helping Neil Lennon’s team establish a six-point lead at the top of the Scottish Championship.
However, it is claimed the twice-capped Scotland international, who is included in Gordon Strachan’s latest national team squad, could cost as little as £1.5 million in the summer – despite also having two years left on his contract at Easter Road.
£1.5 million would be pittance to Sunderland, whether the Mackems avoid the drop or not. And even if they were to go down, the prospect of leading a club of that stature out of the second tier is sure to appeal to McGinn, who signed for Hibs shortly after their own relegation in 2015.
Needless to say any approach from West Brom, whose Premier League status is all-but secured, could scupper Sunderland’s chances regardless of which division they find themselves in next season.
Would Sunderland or West Bromwich Albion represent a better move for Hibs’ McGinn?
