The former Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester City striker is currently without a club.

Sunderland have been asked if they are interested in signing forward Emmanuel Adebayor, according to a report in the Northern Echo.
Adebayor has been without a club since he left Crystal Palace at the end of last season, and was reportedly close to signing for Ligue 1 side Lyon but a move broke down after claims what the forward asked for a shot of whisky in his coffee, along with a cigarette in his mouth when he met Bruno Genesio.
The Northern Echo‘s report claims Adebayor is open to remaining in the Premier League and that his representatives have been in contact with the club to determine if they will have a rethink after Moyes said he was unlikely to make further free agent signings.

Victor Anichebe has already been added to strengthen attacking options while Jermain Defoe was left out of the EFL Cup win over QPR in midweek to protect his fitness for the weekend’s game against Crystal Palace.
It would certainly be an interesting move for Sunderland if they were to sign Adebayor. He has managed to find the net fairly regularly at Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester City in the Premier League, with his last spell at Crystal Palace being the major disappointment.

There are questions surrounding his attitude, however, and reports of how his move to Lyon broke down will only add fuel to that particular fire. He is a player that has managed to score 97 goals from 242 appearances in the Premier League which is a pretty decent strike rate. If directly translated into the Sunderland side then 32-year-old’s firepower could be just what the club needs to avoid another difficult season.
One wonders if Moyes will make such a move. It would be a gamble – given that other clubs have passed on the opportunity to sign him.
