Sunderland are reportedly keen on Livingston’s Matthew Knox.
According to the Daily Mail, Sunderland have asked to take Livingston talent Matthew Knox on trial, having been expecting him to join Manchester United this month.
The Black Cats are in desperate need of reinforcements this month, as they sit second-bottom of the Premier League table having lost 3-1 to Stoke City on Saturday afternoon.

David Moyes doesn’t appear to have much money to spend on new signings though, and the Sunderland boss may end up shopping in the bargain basement in an attempt to bring new faces to the Stadium of Light.
Now, the Daily Mail report that Sunderland have now asked Livingston if they can take teenager Matthew Knox on trial, with the Scot attracting interest from a host of clubs.
Sunderland’s Stadium of Light
The 17-year-old attacker has already made seven appearances having come up through the ranks with the Scottish League One side, and has been tipped for a huge future.
A Scotland Under-17 international, Knox has spent three trial spells with Manchester United, whilst he’s also trained with Everton, Liverpool, Rangers and Tottenham Hotspur having caught the eye with Livingston.
It’s stated that Sunderland’s Gordon Chisholm expected Knox to complete a move to Manchester United during this month’s transfer window, but given that such a deal has yet to be completed, Sunderland have now asked to take Knox on trial too.
The teenager is unlikely to be viewed as a player who can help Sunderland in their battle against relegation, but rather as a player who can become a star of the future at the Stadium of Light under the tutelage of fellow Scot Moyes.
