According to the Daily Mail, Sunderland and Sheffield Wednesday are interested in securing the services of Millwall forward Lee Gregory in the summer.

Both the Owls and the Black Cats are in desperate need of more fire-power in forward areas, with their lack of goals this season proving to be detrimental to their hopes of finishing inside the top half of the Championship table.

The Daily Mail claim that Sunderland and Wednesday are keen on Gregory, 29, who will be available on a free transfer at the end of this season.

What has Gregory got to offer?

A lively forward, the Millwall man has scored an impressive 91 goals in 216 career appearances to date.

Standing at 6ft 2in, he is a powerful target man, who excels when playing with his back to goal.

That type of physical presence is exactly what both Sunderland and Wednesday need, and his goalscoring record of nearly one in every two games would be a huge boost for them too.

The two Championship clubs are hardly flush with cash, so the potential of snaring Gregory on a free in the summer will surely appeal to both of them.
