Manchester United reportedly wanted Yerry Mina before he moved to Everton from Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

Yerry Mina poses as a new Everton FC player on August 9, 2018 in Barcelona, Spain.

According to The Sun, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho did not make contact with Yerry Mina before the defender left Barcelona for Everton in the summer transfer window.

Mina joined Everton from Spanish and European giants Barcelona for a transfer fee reported by The Independent to be worth £27 million.

The Sun has claimed that United were also interested in securing the services of the 23-year-old central defender this summer.

The British tabloid, though, has reported that United manager Mourinho did not contact the Colombian international defender as scheduled.

Everton manager Marco Silva did, according to The Sun, and that is why Mina is at Goodison Park.

Missing out

United’s performances defensively so far this season have not been great, and they could have done with Mina in their team.

The Red Devils’ loss is Everton’s gain, and the 23-year-old is a very good signing, not just for this season but for years to come as well.

While United are aiming to challenge for the Premier League title this season, Everton are looking to break into the top six.
