Report suggests why Ki Sung-yueng hasn’t played much for Newcastle United

Ki Sung-yueng joined Rafael Benitez’s Newcastle United in the summer transfer window.

According to The Chronicle, Ki Sung-yueng has not played much for Newcastle United so far this season due to his lack of mobility.

Ki joined Newcastle in the summer transfer window after leaving Swansea City at the end of the last season.

The 29-year-old central midfielder arrived at St. James’ Park on a free transfer and was expected to be a major player in Rafael Benitez’s team.

Ki was signed as a replacement for 22-year-old Spanish midfielder Mikel Merino, who joined Real Sociedad from Newcastle in the summer transfer window for a fee reported by Sky Sports to be worth £10 million.

However, the South Korea international has played just 180 minutes in the Premier League for Newcastle so far this season, according to WhoScored.

The Chronicle has suggested that Ki’s lack of playing time is down to his lack of mobility.

Perhaps in the coming weeks the South Korea international will get the chance to play for the Magpies on a regular basis.
