West Ham United’s season has not exactly gone to plan.
A report in The Sun has suggested that Slaven Bilic is considering the possibility of letting Andy Carroll leave West Ham United during the upcoming January transfer window.
The 27-year-old has struggled to enjoy prolonged spells in the first-team since joining the Hammers, initially on loan, in 2012 due to several injuries that have meant that the Irons fans have only been treated to glimpses of how special a player he can be.
West Ham’s Andy Carroll
Since permanently joining the club, he has failed to start more than 13 times in a season. And with only three appearances in the starting line-up to his name so far this term, it looks like he may struggle to make more than 13 starts this campaign.
But perhaps he will not be given the opportunity to reach that number anyway as The Sun suggests that he could be given the chance to leave the London Stadium next month.
West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic
While Bilic may be keeping his options open in regards to getting players off the books to allow for new signings to be made, it seems difficult to imagine that Carroll will be one member of his squad he will be keen to offload.
The likes of Simone Zaza and Jonathan Calleri have offered little since their arrivals. And while Carroll perhaps does not offer the reliability that Bilic would like in regards to his fitness, West Ham fans would surely rather see him stick around and see the club save some funds by showing the door to the previously-mentioned pair.
