Tottenham Hotspur will play their home matches at Wembley next season.
Tottenham Hotspur will play at the Wembley Stadium in London next season. The North London outfit have already decided to leave White Hart Lane at the end of the 2016-17 campaign.
Spurs have struggled at Wembley this season during their Champions League games, and many fans will be understandably worried. Mauricio Pochettino’s side have won only one of their past nine matches at Wembley.
It will be tough for the players to adapt to a new stadium and to the new surroundings, but it seems that Tottenham have a plan.
According to The Times, Spurs are considering altering the dimensions of the pitch at Wembley in order to help the players.
“As Tottenham will play all their home matches at Wembley next season they are entitled to determine the size of the pitch as long as it complies with Premier League and Uefa regulations and is the same for all their fixtures,” states the report in The Times.
“At 105m x 69m the Wembley playing surface is larger than White Hart Lane’s 100m x 67m, and introducing a smaller pitch is one of a number of options under consideration to try to make the players feel more at home.”
Tottenham’s (reported) plan of altering the dimensions of the pitch is not a bad idea. It would certain save manager Mauricio Pochettino from changing his tactics and playing style.
Spurs are having a great season and should finish at least second in the Premier League table. The White Hart Lane faithful will hope that the team are able to maintain the current form at Wembley during the 2017-18 campaign.
