Former Tottenham goalie Brad Friedel has reportedly been given a role in negotiations.

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the signature of Galatasaray winger Bruma for some time now. This week it has now been reported that a former Spurs and Galatasaray goalkeeper is involved in helping the deal come to fruition.

American goalie Brad Friedel spent one season at Galatasaray in the mid-90s and then four years at White Hart Lane to finish his playing career.

Currently he is the coach of the United States under-19 team but it appears Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is asking him for a favour.

According to FotoMac, Friedel is set to open the dialogue between the Turkish side and Spurs regarding Bruma at Levy’s request.

Tottenham were recently handed a boost in their pursuit of the Portuguese winger, according to Hurriyet in Turkey.

He reportedly told the Turkish side he will not be signing a new contract at the club and that they should sell him to Spurs.

The report claims that Tottenham want to sign him for €20 million (£17 million) and that Bruma informed the hierarchy at Galatasaray that they should accept the bid, as it would be a good pay-packet for the club and he would get his dream of playing in England.

Whether Friedel is involved is likely up for debate but Tottenham fans will be hoping that he can help them get this deal off the ground as Bruma could be a future star at White Hart Lane.
