According to The Express, Tottenham Hotspur may have two reasons to feel confident about a possible move to sign Paris Saint-Germain defender Thomas Meunier.
Their report states that Spurs have now held talks with Meunier about a move to North London. His PSG deal expires this summer, and he looks set to move on for free.
Meunier is seen as a potential solution at right back, and his status as a free agent is appealing. Tottenham don’t have a huge budget to work with this summer, so Meunier certain has value as a freebie.
Many clubs are keen, but there are reasons why Tottenham can have hope about a deal. One of them is that Meunier is being represented by agent Pini Zahavi.
Zahavi has worked closely with Mourinho for many years. Sky Sports noted that he brokered Mourinho’s deal to become Tottenham boss, as well as convincing Chelsea to land him in 2004.
That prior relationship could be a major boost for Spurs, who may need every advantage they can get. Another one may come in the form of Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld.

The report states that Meunier is close friends with Alderweireld, having played together for Belgium. Tottenham allegedly hope that their relationship will ultimately help convince Meunier into moving to North London.
Tottenham are an appealing club anyway, but having two strong relationships in the mix may just give them a major boost in the race for the 28-year-old’s signature this summer.
