Middlesbrough have struggled to find the back of the net on a consistent basis so far this season.

Reports emanating from Italy this morning suggest that Middelsbrough are interested in signing Lazio’s Serbian striker Filip Djordjevic, according to Italian media outlet Il Messaggero, and reported via the Teesside Gazette.
Aitor Karanka’s men are in the midst of a woeful run in the Premier League, and currently sit just outside the relation zone in 17th place, after two draws and four losses in their last six league outings.

The majority of their troubles can be attributed to their poor goalscoring record, with a return of just seven goals in eight league games something that will be needed to be improved upon sooner rather than later.
Il Messaggero report that Lazio are ready to cash in on the 29-year-old Serbian, with him falling out of favour in the Rome giant’s forward pecking order, reported via the Teesside Gazette.
Filip Djordjevic in action for Lazio
Djordjevic moved to Lazio in the summer of 2014, and has gone on to score 15 goals in 64 outings for his club.
With Boro on the look out for a proven goalscorer, it is doubtful whether Djordjevic, with his very underwhelming goal record, is the man they need to help steer them clear of any kind of relegation trouble.
The question has to be asked why Karanka is not giving Jordan Rhodes more of a chance in the first team.
The 26-year-old boasts an impressive goalscoring CV, with a return of 172 goals in 337 league outings throughout the duration of his career.
Maybe now is the time for the Scotland international to be introduced to Boro’s starting XI on a regular basis, rather than bring in an unproven striker from a league notorious for its’ slow pace and lack of intensity.
