Southampton are reportedly planning to step up their interest in Tiemoue Bakayoko with a series of extensive scouting missions.
Bakayoko in action for Monaco
Reports emanating from Italy today suggest that Southampton have entered the race to sign Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko, as reported by CalcioMercato.
The 22-year-old France under-21 international has already attracted attention from a plethora of clubs, including some of Europe’s most elite, including Juventus and Manchester United (the Express).
The report from CalcioMercato suggests that Southampton have also been joined in the race to sign the Monaco man by Italian giants AC Milan, with both clubs preparing extensive scouting missions over the coming weeks.

Bakayoko moved to Monaco two years ago from Rennes, and has gone on to make 45 appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit.
He plays predominantly as a defensive midfielder, but can also be utilised in a more advanced role.

The Frenchman is powerfully built, and possesses incredible energy levels, which enable him to cover vast amounts of ground over the duration of a game’s entirety.
If Southampton were to sign Bakayoko, he could turn out to be the ideal replacement for the departed Victor Wanyama, and with the ability he has already shown, he has the potential to go on and become on of France’s best midfielders.
