Reports emanating from Italy today suggest that Serie A giants Juventus have joined Liverpool and Chelsea in the race to sign €40 million-rated (£36 million) Porto star Ruben Neves, according to Italian media outlet CalcioMercato.

The 19-year-old Portuguese international has already made 64 appearances for Porto, and is considered to be one of Europe’s hottest properties.

The report from CalcioMercato claims that the player’s agent – Jorge Mendes is currently trying to find a solution for his client’s future, with a battle for his signature set to ensue over the summer.

The talented young midfielder has a €40 million release clause inserted into his contract, which, in today’s crazy transfer market, would actually represent good value for a young player with such outstanding ability.

Both Chelsea and Liverpool are in need of midfield reinforcements, but with the Blues’ ageing squad, it could be argued that their need is greater than the other two clubs reported to be interested in Neves.

The report does go on to claim that Juventus are not in any particular rush to sign the player, however, and will continue to scout the Portuguese youngster before making any kind of decision regarding a move for Neves.
