Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly received a boost in their pursuit of Rui Patricio.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have taken little time to get down to business in the transfer market, with loanees Benik Afobe, Diogo Jota and Willy Boly all signing permanent deals. And it appears that the Championship title-winners would have been hoping to have signed a new goalkeeper at this stage of this window also.

The Mirror reports that a potential £16 million deal for Patricio fell through last month. However, the Jorge Mendes client is reportedly hoping that the deal between the two sides may not be dead.

John Ruddy did an excellent job of helping Wolves secure promotion out of the Championship this past season, but there can surely be little doubt that a move for the 30-year-old would be an upgrade ahead of their top flight return.
Patricio has been a stalwart of the Sporting side since breaking into the first-team. He has made at least 30 appearances in all competitions in each of the last 11 seasons, and boasts a winner’s medal from Euro 2016 – a competition that also saw him named in the Team of the Tournament.
