Barton has not played for Mark Warburton’s Glasgow Rangers side since September.
Rangers’ Joey Barton
A report in the Daily Record has claimed that Rangers may not make a decision on Joey Barton’s future until January as the midfielder’s exile from Murray Park continues.
The 34-year-old has not played for the Gers since their Old Firm defeat to Celtic more than a month ago after he was suspended following a training ground incident that came in the wake of the heavy loss, the Record reports.

And while that initial suspension has come to an end, Barton remains absent from the club he only joined in the summer as the Record reports that he has postponed a meeting with Mark Warburton to give him time to prepare.
The Record claims that the former Premier League midfielder may have already played his final game for Rangers, but a final decision on his future may not actually come until after the turn of the year.
Rangers manager Mark Warburton
While the writing seems to be on the wall for Barton’s Gers future, it is surely a situation that Warburton would have preferred to bring the curtain down on as soon as possible.
With the Light Blues beginning to turn a corner in the Scottish Premiership, the last thing the boss will surely want is to be answering questions about what is happening with Barton while the team is enjoying a positive run.
