Glasgow Rangers midfielder Greg Docherty is looking set to leave Ibrox on loan this summer.

Docherty only joined the Gers during the most recent January transfer window, with the Daily Record reporting that the Scottish Premiership side spent £650,000 to bring him to his boyhood club.
The 21-year-old often looked incredibly bright during his first few months with the Light Blues and rarely looked out of his depth playing for the club. Nevertheless, he appears to have fallen down the pecking order since Steven Gerrard arrived at the start of the summer.
Rangers have signed three players during this window who look set to compete for a spot in the middle of the park, and it certainly appears to be the area of the side where the Gers boast, by far, the most depth.

The chance to join the League One side should be one that the youngster jumps at. It is perhaps a gamble to not join a team competing in the same division where he can easily remain on Gerrard’s radar, but Shrewsbury came within touching distance of securing promotion to the Championship last season.
If they can replicate that achievement during the coming campaign and Docherty proves to be an integral member of the squad, then that may perhaps see the midfielder stake a real claim to Gerrard ahead of his return, presumably next summer.
