It has been reported that Celtic and Lyon are among the clubs interested in signing Hickey from Heart of Midlothian in the summer transfer window.
The report has claimed that Hearts value the teenager at £1.5 million, and that Bayern Munich and Bologna also want him.
The Sunday Post has claimed that the 18-year-old left-back now sees his future in either the Bundesliga or Serie A, and not at Celtic.
The report has claimed of enquires from Lyon and Celtic for the youngster, with The Daily Record reporting of interest in the defender from the Hoops only last week.
No big miss for Celtic?
Hickey is a very talented and promising young left-back who has established himself in the Hearts first team.
According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, Hickey made 22 appearances in the Scottish Premiership for Hearts last season, scoring one goal and providing one assist in the process.
However, the 18-year-old is unlikely to play regularly for the Celtic first team this season if he is to join the Glasgow giants.
Greg Taylor is the first-choice left-back in manager Neil Lennon’s side at the moment, and that is not going to change anytime soon.
While Hickey would be a good back-up, given his tender age, he cannot be expected to make an immediate impact at Celtic, and it would not be a big miss for the Glasgow giants if they are unable to sign him this summer.

Meanwhile, Celtic legend David Provan has given his take on James Forrest’s recent comments about Kieran Tierney.
As quoted in The Daily Record last week, Celtic winger Forrest hopes that Arsenal left-back Tierney gets a hero’s welcome if there is a reunion should the Hoops win the Scottish Premiership title for the 10th season in a row in 2020-21.
Tierney left the Bhoys for Arsenal in the summer of 2019, and Celtic legend Provan believes that the left-back should get a hero’s welcome back at Celtic Park.
Provan wrote in The Scottish Sun: “James Forrest is urging Celtic fans to forgive Kieran Tierney.
“For what? For trebling his wages and making himself financially secure? For moving to a much better league?
“Choosing Anfield and Old Trafford over the Tony Macaroni Arena? Earning Celtic £25million?”
Provan added: “When Tierney left Glasgow, he went with his head held high. He owed nobody. If Celts do complete ten in a row, they should roll out the red carpet for the full-back.”
