According to Football.London, Brentford striker Ollie Watkins is a possible target for Tottenham Hotspur – but his price tag is thought to be ‘hefty’.

It’s claimed that Bournemouth striker Josh King is not currently an active target for Spurs, and they don’t want to get into an auction for a new forward.

Watkins is one ‘homegrown possibility for Spurs, which suggests he is at least on their radar – but Tottenham may not like his price tag.

The Sun claim that Watkins is set for a £22million move to Aston Villa, and Spurs surely won’t be matching or bettering that offer.

Add in that Watkins would be reuniting with his former Brentford boss Dean Smith at Villa, and Spurs may simply not want to get into a battle.

Watkins, 24, smashed 26 goals and three assists in 49 Championship games last season, starring as Brentford made it to the playoff final.

Capable of playing out wide, Watkins spent most of last season playing up front, and that versatiity would likely appeal to Spurs.

Still, they likely won’t want to spend more than £20million on a backup to Harry Kane, and even if Watkins fits the homegrown bill for Spurs, they surely won’t be signing him.
