West Ham United have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Mario Balotelli this summer.

According to a report from The Telegraph, Mario Balotelli has been offered to West Ham following the striker’s departure from Marseille after a six-month spell at Stade Velodrome last season.

The Hammers will surely be prioritising strengthening their attacking options this summer. Marko Arnautovic was the only player to reach double figures for Premier League goals last term, and he has now sealed his move to China.

The Telegraph reports that the Irons are locked in negotiations with Maxi Gomez regarding a move from Celta Vigo. But it has been suggested that they have also been contacted about a move for Balotelli.

The Italy international is a free agent this summer after a short spell with the Ligue 1 side, and The Telegraph reports that he has now been offered to the Irons. It must be noted that Manuel Pellegrini is reportedly yet to show any interest in offering the 28-year-old another chance in the Premier League.

West Ham must look elsewhere

Balotelli’s time in France has helped remind everyone of his potential on the pitch. He scored eight goals in 15 league games for Marseille, and found the back of the net 33 times during his two full seasons at Nice.

Nevertheless, the striker never seems to be too far away from controversy and thus, West Ham would arguably be wise to snub the chance to make a move for the former Manchester City man – especially after the Hammers have just managed to offload Arnautovic.

The Irons really need to sign a new goalscorer before the new campaign begins. But it would arguably be a big surprise if Balotelli was the player that Pellegrini turned to.
