Geoffrey Kondogbia is a reported transfer target for Liverpool.

Reports emanating from Italy today suggest that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has told the Anfield hierarchy to attempt to sign Inter Milan midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia in January, as reported by TuttoMercatoWeb.

The 23-year-old has fallen out of favour with Inter boss Ronald De Boer in recent weeks, after a succession of poor displays that the Dutchman believes has cost his side.

Klopp has a plethora of midfield options at the club, but it could be argued he is lacking a ball-winning type of player with an imposing physical presence, to help grab a game by the scruff of the neck when they are up against it.

Kondogbia is exactly that type of player, and should Liverpool sign him, his presence in the side would provide the Reds with an added level of solidarity in the middle of the park.

The report from TuttoMercatoWeb also contains quotes from the Frenchman’s agent regarding a possible move, and how there is no shortage of potential suitors for his signature:

“Kondogbia is certainly a top level player. He has a lot of quality and is very young, so obviously he has a lot of clubs interested in him. Can I name them? I will just say that he is not lacking interested clubs.”

Kondogbia’s contract with the Italian giants does not expire until the summer of 2020, and after Inter paid around £27 million to secure his services just last summer, they will surely expect a fairly substantial fee, should they decide to sell.
