Alfonso Pastor has his heart set on signing a contract extension with Sevilla despite interest from Liverpool and Real Madrid, as reported by ABC Sevilla.
With the Europa League champions suffering problems between the sticks this season, a 20-year-old shot-stopper who made his debut just last week could soon be featuring on a more regular basis.
Pastor won’t remember his senior bow with much fondness, however.
Four-goal record-breaker Olivier Giroud made sure of that as Chelsea cruised to a stunning Champion League win at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
But with Tomas Vaclik far from convincing and last season’s Europa League hero Yassine Bounou conceding a disastrous own-goal in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Real Madrid, Pastor is suddenly looking like a genuine contender for the number one jersey at Sevilla.
AS claims Pastor, a former Spain U17 international, has caught the eye of Real Madrid and Liverpool.
The Premier League champions especially admire his ability to play out from the back. Interestingly, Jurgen Klopp singled out Caoimhin Kelleher’s passing range when explaining why the young Irishman replaced the more experienced Adrian as Liverpool’s number two goalkeeper recently.
But, according to reports from Andalusia, the Reds and Real Madrid will both be left disappointed.
Pastor is determined to commit his future to Sevilla and thereby extend a contract that expires in the summer.
