Liverpool are plotting a summer move for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner who is interesting some of their Premier League rivals.

Werner has been fantastic for Leipzig since the start of last season. The 22-year-old scored 21 league goals last term as Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men stunned everyone in their first season in the Bundesliga, and he has followed that up with 10 strikes in 24 games this term.

Unsurprisingly, he is attracting plenty of attention. The Independent reports that there are a few top flight sides in England having a look, including Liverpool and Manchester United – the club that Werner has previously spoken of his desire to play for at some stage in his career.

Is Werner the final piece for Klopp?
It must be almost agonising for Liverpool fans to look at the current squad and see how close they are to having a team that looks capable of really challenging for the title next season.
Jurgen Klopp has constructed a brilliant attacking unit and made some clever additions elsewhere on the pitch, so they are surely down to those final pieces in the jigsaw and adding Werner would arguably see the team take a further step forward.
There would still be some question marks, but adding Werner to come in alongside Keita would undoubtedly leave many suggesting that the Reds are the team that stand the best chance of denying Manchester City another title next season.
