Reports emanating from Italy today suggest that Liverpool are keeping tabs on Sassuolo striker Grégoire Defrel with a view to a potential January bid, according to GazzaMercato.
Liverpool have started their 2016/17 campaign in impressive fashion, and currently sit fourth in the Premier League table after recording three consecutive Premier League victories.
The report from GazzaMercato states that the Reds could consider signing Defrel in the near future, with Jürgen Klopp describing the Frenchman as a ‘high quality player’.

The Frenchman moved to Sassuolo last summer from Italian outfit Cesena for a fee believed to be in the region of €7 million, and still has four years remaining on his contract with the club.
The report goes on to claim that the 25-year-old striker has already been the subject of interest from various Premier League clubs, including Crystal Palace and Swansea City earlier this year, and Liverpool’s fierce rivals Everton last season.

If Liverpool did make a move for Defrel, he would face stiff competition for a regular starting role, with the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi, Danny Ings and Roberto Firmino already at the club.
