Leeds United are due compensation when Charlie Taylor finds a new club, with a move to West Bromwich Albion currently looking likely.
Charlie Taylor appears to be on his way out of Leeds this summer
A report in the Yorkshire Evening Post has suggested that Leeds United are likely to secure around £4 million should Charlie Taylor complete a move to West Brom this summer.
Taylor is out of contract at Elland Road this summer and looks to be on his way out of the club with the Baggies looking to be his most likely destination, the Yorkshire Evening Post reports.
Leeds will still be due a compensation fee despite the left-back’s contract expiring provided that they offer him a new contract that matches his current deal, the Yorkshire Evening Post adds.
And with West Brom boss Tony Pulis recently confirming his desire to get a deal done that does not involve using a tribunal to set a fee, the Yorkshire Evening Post is suggesting that £4 million is the likely amount that the Championship club shall receive for the 23-year-old.
West Brom appear to be Taylor’s most likely destination currently
Given Taylor’s quality and potential, that £4 million will surely still seem a slightly underwhelming figure if that does prove to be the fee, but with the academy graduate’s head clearly being turned by opportunities elsewhere – he angered the club’s supporters by refusing to feature in the Whites’ game on the final day of the season – Garry Monk may relish seeing his transfer funds bolstered by the seven-figure fee.
And with Taylor tainting how his departure from Leeds will be received amongst fans, some may probably be pleased if they can avoid a tribunal and bring sever the defender’s remaining ties with Elland Road as soon as possible.
