The Sheffield Wednesday right-back could make his second appearance for Scotland later this week.
The Sheffield Wednesday right-back, Liam Palmer, has even more reason to impress during June’s internationals.
Palmer was named in Steve Clarke’s maiden Scotland squad last week despite enduring a difficult debut against Kazakhstan earlier this year.
And according to The Daily Record, the Sheffield Wednesday academy product may soon have a Premier League right-back rivalling him for Scotland’s number two spot.
The newspaper claims the Scottish FA are looking into Ryan Fredericks’ eligibility to play for the Tartan Army, after an encouraging first season at West Ham United.
Fredericks – who it adds would be interested in playing for Scotland – ended the campaign as West Ham’s first choice in his position, having initially struggled with injuries after joining from Fulham.
And assuming that continues next term, the 26-year-old would have to be considered favourite, ahead of Palmer and the Kilmarnock right-back, Stephen O’Donnell, to start for Clarke’s side.
Palmer is expected to sign a new contract with Sheffield Wednesday, although Moses Odubajo has been strongly tipped to join the Owls’ options in his position, which also comprise Dominic Iorfa and Ash Baker.
