The former Rangers goalkeeper, Liam Kelly, could reunite with his one-time Ibrox manager, Mark Warburton, after triggering a release clause in his contract.

According to The Daily Record, Kelly’s decision ‘paves the way’ for a transfer to the English Championship, where Warburton’s Queens Park Rangers among those keen on signing the Livingston man.

But the newspaper claims it will still cost £50,000 to prise Kelly away from Almondvale, where he is half-way through a two-year contract.

Warburton, who was appointed QPR boss last month, was in charge as the 23-year-old rose through the ranks at Rangers.

But Kelly failed to make a competitive appearance under any Ibrox manager and left at the end of his deal last summer.

A return to Livingston, where the Rangers academy product had previously played on loan, appears to have revived his career and led to a Scotland call-up for June’s internationals.

Should he move to Loftus Road, Kelly is likely to compete with Joe Lumley and Matt Ingram to be QPR number one.
