Tony Pulis’ future with West Bromwich Albion appears to be up in the air following their defeat to Chelsea at the weekend.

According to a report from The Sun, it is looking ‘unlikely’ that Tony Pulis will still be West Brom manager by the time the Baggies take on Tottenham in their next Premier League game.

Following their 4-0 home defeat to Chelsea on Saturday, West Brom find themselves 17th in the top flight, just one point clear of the bottom three.

What makes the Baggies’ position worse is that they have not tasted victory in the league since the second weekend of the season and are just one of six teams yet to reach double figures for league goals this term – and it appears that the board’s patience may be running out.

The Sun reports that Pulis’ position is being considered by the Baggies hierarchy and it is now unlikely that he will still be in charge of the club by the time they face Spurs next Saturday.

If the board really are seriously considering making a change, one factor they must consider before sacking Pulis is whether they will be able to get anyone better in given their current position.

Pulis is known for keeping teams up, and while West Brom’s start to the season suggests that he may need his full range of skills to maintain that reputation – if he is given the chance – there may not be too many managers better suited who would be willing to come to The Hawthorns at this stage of the campaign and try and turn their fortunes around.
