The striker was forced off during their Premier League clash with Sunderland at the weekend.
Tottenham’s Harry Kane
The Daily Mirror has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are worried that they could be without Harry Kane for the next two months after he sustained an ankle injury during the club’s clash with Sunderland on Sunday.
The 23-year-old had to be taken off after appearing to roll his ankle as he made a challenge on Black Cats defender Papy Djilobodji. And while the Mirror reports that Spurs have received a boost in that a scan has already shown that the striker has not suffered a fracture, it appears that they could still be without their talisman for a considerable period of time.
The Mirror claims that Spurs fear that he has suffered grade-two ligament damage, and if that proves to be the case, he could miss the next two months.
And while Tuesday’s scan results may suggest that it is simply a grade-one problem, and thus, he will miss around 10 days, the Mirror suggests that grade-three damage is possible, and that would see Kane miss the next four months.
Kane had scored the winner against Sunderland
While Tottenham will be grateful if it turns out that Kane will miss two months rather than four, there is no doubt that it would be a massive blow to their chances of success this season.
Missing around eight weeks would leave the former Norwich loanee unavailable for Mauricio Pochettino’s men’s next three Champions League games, as well as Premier League clashes against the likes of Manchester City, Leicester and North London rivals Arsenal.
And the Spurs boss will be desperately hoping that Vincent Janssen – who will surely be the man to replace Kane in the team – will have a tremendous amount of determination to prove himself, to help ensure that last season’s top scorer is not missed as much as many fear he may be.
