Queens Park Rangers will be looking to climb the table after the appointment of Ian Holloway.

Ian Holloway is set to make his first signing since being appointed as the new Hoops boss last week with the capture of former Bolton Wanderers defender Alex Finney, according to local media outlet West London Sport.

The 20-year-old centre-back has been on trial at Loftus Road, featuring in a succession of QPR’s under-23 games.

The West London outfit currently sit in 17th position in the Championship table, after shipping 22 goals in 16 outings, and are in desperate need of defensive reinforcements.

And West London Sport claim that Holloway wants to take Finney on until next summer after his trial period with the club.

Finney began his career at Leyton Orient before moving to the Macron Stadium in the summer of 2014 on a free transfer.

He left Bolton three months ago, however, after making just three appearances for the club in all competitions.

Standing at 6 ft 4 in, the young centre-back would provide Holloway’s men with a much needed physical presence in their back-line, if a move comes to fruition, as they look to improve defensively, and begin to climb the Championship table.
