According to Tuttomercatoweb, Tottenham Hotspur are expected to lose Gedson Fernandes back to Benfica within a matter of hours.
It’s claimed that Benfica are ready to take their midfielder back to Portugal either today or tomorrow, ending his Spurs loan early.
Fernandes was signed on an 18-month loan deal in January 2020, and Spurs even had the option to turn that move permanent for £40million.
However, the 22-year-old has only played twice in all competitions this season, and hasn’t featured at all in the Premier League.
Fernandes did play against Marine in the FA Cup earlier this month, but it still seems like he will be on the move this month.
Intriguingly, this report claims that Benfica not only intend to recall Fernandes, but could then loan him straight on to Torino.

Technical director Davide Vagnati is believed to be very keen on signing Fernandes, but his Tottenham exit needs to go through first.
If Fernandes isn’t in the Spurs squad to face Wycombe tonight, then it may point to this report being true, and that his time in North London is over.
