Everton are reportedly close to wrapping up a deal for one of England’s brightest young stars.

Everton expect to complete the £10 million signing of Charlton Athletic prodigy Ademola Lookman early on in the January transfer window, according to BBC Sport.

The 19-year-old is one of the English game’s hottest prospects, and many of the Premier League’s biggest clubs have shown interest in signing him throughout the course of the last few months.

Lookman has been wth the Addicks for his entire career, and signed professional terms with the South London outfit in the summer of 2015.

And he has since gone on to score 12 goals in 49 appearances for his club.

The report from the BBC claim that director of football at Goodsion Park Steve Walsh has highlighted the signing of Lookman as the club’s priority, with Everton set to embark on a policy of recruiting young talent.

It is debatable whether Lookman would be ready to compete in the Premier League just yet, but the experience of being involved in the first-team setup of a club like the Toffees will surely enhance his skill and understanding of what it takes to make it at the top level.
