Everton are said to be preparing a £22 million offer for Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin.

Squawka is reporting that Everton are set to make an improved offer of £22 million for the French international midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin.

Everton have been linked with a move for the midfielder for some time now, but recently had a bid for the player rejected by the Old Trafford club.

That bid was around £19 million and Everton will be hoping this £3 million increase sees them get their man.

Manchester United are said to be keen on recouping the fee they paid to bring Schneiderlin in from Southampton back in 2015. If that is the case then Everton are still £2 million short of the valuation United have for the player.

Ronald Koeman worked with the player at Southampton and would be hoping to get the best out of the 27-year-old once again.

The Frenchman has fallen down the pecking order at Manchester United since Jose Mourinho’s arrival.

The Portuguese has confirmed that the Everton target can leave the club this month, along with another in the form of Dutch winger Memphis Depay.

Everton will now surely be hoping they can get this deal done as quickly as possible – as Schneiderlin would provide great cover for the departing Idrissa Gana Gueye, who is heading to African Cup of Nations duty.
