According to Het Nieuwsblad, Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy is a fan of a move for Atalanta defender Timothy Castagne due to his profile.
It’s claimed that Levy has a ‘soft spot’ for Castagne, because Spurs want to invest in young players with resale value for the future.
Paris Saint-Germina are keen on Castagne too, but Spurs have been linked for a few weeks now. Tuttomercatoweb started the rumour, suggesting in April that Tottenham want the Belgian to boost their right back options.
TMW added earlier this week that Spurs want to close a deal for Castagne, seemingly hoping to get a deal sealed despite confusion over when the transfer market will open.
The 24-year-old has hit two goals and two assists in 19 games for Atalanta this season, and offers versatility to play on the left side if needed.
Jose Mourinho has been linked with Thomas Meunier too, but compatriot Castagne may be the preferred option for Levy if these reports are to be believed.

Meunier may be the better player and is available for free, but he will command bigger wages, and has little resale value at 28.
TMW’s second report claims that Meunier is Tottenham’s second-choice target behind Castagne, and these reports that Levy would be a fan certainly add to that notion.
