Celtic are interested in signing Argentinian left-back Leandro Grimi, according to the Scottish Sun.

Grimi is currently plying his trade in his native Argentina with Racing Club, after spells with both AC Milan and Sporting Lisbon, and the report claims that Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers is looking for an experienced left-back to compete with Kieran Tierney.

The 19-year-old Scotland international has impressed for the Glasgow giants this term, and has appeared in all of Celtic’s league games, along with their humbling 7-0 defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League.

With such a long season ahead for Brendan Rodger’s side, it would be in Celtic’s best interest to bring in someone of Grimi’s pedigree to challenge Tierney.

Playing week-in, week-out for the duration of the season could prove to be detrimental to Tierney’s development with the high pressure that comes along with playing for Celtic.

The Scottish Sun go on to claim that the Hoops could land the 31-year-old Argentine for as little as £600,000, and in today’s market, that fee would represent an absolute snip.

Grimi has made over 230 league appearances during a career that has so far spanned 12 years.
