Aston Villa may be interested in targeting a young Premier League striker on loan, so West Ham United’s Ashley Fletcher may be worth considering.

According to a recent report from the Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa are considering potentially targeting a young Premier League striker on loan as they continue their preparations for the new Championship season.

Steve Bruce’s men already have Jonathan Kodjia in their ranks, and Scott Hogan’s form during his time at Brentford certainly suggests that there is more to come from him if he can enjoy some luck when it comes to injuries.

Beyond that however, the Villans’ cluster of strikers consists of the hardly-prolific pair of Gabby Agbonlahor and Ross McCormack and several largely unproven youngsters – so it would perhaps hardly be a surprise if Bruce did want to sign another forward on a temporary deal if the funds allow him.

And perhaps the player he should target is West Ham’s Ashley Fletcher – who may appreciate the opportunity to play his football away from the London Stadium this season especially now that the Hammers have landed Javier Hernandez.

After the struggles that his strikers endured last term, Slaven Bilic may well want to keep the 21-year-old around, but given the number of options in his squad, Villa should at least try and seek a loan deal.

Fletcher would surely benefit from a move away, and Villa may be getting a striker who has shown some glimpses of quality during his career, most notably during his loan spell with Barnsley, if they manage to agree a deal with the Irons.
