Bournemouth have identified Aston Villa youngster Keinan Davis as a replacement for West Bromwich Albion target Josh King this month, according to PA, via The Mail.

Could relegation-threatened West Brom be handed a timely transfer boost by their Midland rivals?

Well, maybe.

Given West Brom are second-lowest scorers in the Premier League with just 11 goals in 17 matches, Sam Allardyce knows signing a reliable goalscorer could be the difference between staying up and going down.

King has been there and done it in the top flight before, scoring 12 league goals as recently as the 2018/19 season. And, according to the Daily Mail, the Norway international has emerged as one of West Brom’s top January targets.

Another Midlands-based outfit, Wolverhampton Wanderers, are interested too, as are a Newcastle side that raided Bournemouth for Callum Wilson and Ryan Fraser during the summer.

King has made no secret of his desire to play Premier League football again as soon as possible and Bournemouth, who have leant instead on the talents of Junior Stanislas, Arnaut Danjuma and David Brooks this term, wouldn’t stand in his way if someone was willing to meet his £17.5 million price tag (Guardian).

Interestingly, Aston Villa could have a part to play here.

The Mail reports powerhouse benchwarmer Davis has been lined up as a loan target for Bournemouth – and a potential replacement for King.

However, Villa are only expected to let Davis go if they sign a striker of their own this month – or if the stricken Wesley Moraes can return after 12 months on the sidelines.
