Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are both reportedly keen on signing the Real Madrid midfielder.
According to a report from Spanish media outlet Marca, Arsenal have moved ahead of Tottenham in the race to sign Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos.
The 22-year-old seems to be heading for the exit door at the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, with a whole host of clubs keen on signing him, including the Gunners and Spurs.
Spanish publication AS reported last week that Tottenham were leading the race to sign Ceballos, with Mauricio Pochettino thought to be close to convincing the Spaniard into joining his revolution.
The Argentine is said to be a huge fan of the Madrid ace, but it appears as though he might just be left disappointed.
Marca are suggesting that Arsenal are now leading their bitter rivals in the race for the Spain international.
Sky Sports claimed yesterday that Ceballos would prefer a loan move away from Madrid, and that might just suit Arsenal, considering their well-documented limited transfer budget.
The 22-year-old is believed to be valued at around €50 million (£45 million), according to El Desmarque.
Tottenham do, of course, have Champions League football to offer the midfielder, and that will surely hold a lot of sway in negotiations.
This has all the hallmarks of a transfer saga that will go right down to the wire, and if Arsenal do manage to beat Spurs to Ceballos’s signature, it would be a real blow to Pochettino’s side as they head into the new campaign.
