According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal have been given something of a boost as David Luiz could play again this season.
It’s claimed that Luiz has undergone a ‘small procedure’ in recent days, cleaning up an issue with his knee having missed the weekend clash with Liverpool.
Luiz is now expected to miss around four weeks of action, but Arsenal believe he has a chance to play again this season in what could be his Gunners swansong.
The 33-year-old is out of contract at Arsenal this summer, and it’s currently unclear whether or not he will be given a new deal to stay at the club.
Luiz has a chance to play the final stages of the campaign, and that could be particularly important if Arsenal reach the Europa League final.
Four weeks on from Luiz’s operation would be the game against Newcastle United on the 1st of May, but it may be more likely that the centre back plays after that.

Arsenal face West Bromwich Albion, Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Brighton after that Newcastle game, and there is a chance that Luiz can play a part in them.
Luiz may need those games to really push for a new deal, but from Arsenal’s perspective, the focus may be on the Europa League rather than the Premier League right now.
