Arsenal are reportedly keen on signing the Manchester United defender.
According to a report from ESPN, Arsenal are keeping tabs on Eric Bailly’s situation at Manchester United, with a view to making a summer bid for the Ivory Coast international.
The 24-year-old moved to Old Trafford from Villarreal in the summer of 2016, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £30 million, but injuries and a lack of form have stunted his progress this season.
ESPN claim that the Gunners have been monitoring Bailly’s situation at United over the past few weeks, and are considering making a summer bid for the centre-back.
Good signing for Arsenal?
Bailly is obviously a very good defender, and he wouldn’t be the first talented player to be shunned by Jose Mourinho.
He is strong, powerful in the air, and quick along the ground – all attributes that the Gunners currently desperately lack in defence.
Whether United would be willing to sell one of their key players to Arsenal, though, is another matter, but the Mirror do claim that they could be open to the idea of doing business, should they receive an offer in excess of the £30 million that they paid for him two years ago.
Whoever Arsenal appoint as their new manager will obviously have their own ideas and philosophies, but he could do a lot worse than bringing Bailly to the Emirates, that much is certain.
