Arsenal are reportedly keen on Newcastle ace Martin Dubravka.

According to The Chronicle, Arsenal are targeting Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka as a replacement for Petr Cech this summer.

Dubravka, 30, has been a masterstroke of a signing from Rafael Benitez, having first joined on loan from Sparta Prague last January.

The Slovakian international has starred between the sticks for Newcastle, earning a permanent move last summer whilst becoming one of the Premier League’s top goalkeepers.

Dubravka’s rise has come fairly late in his career, though as a goalkeeper he still has plenty of great years in the tank, which has sparked interest.

Last month, Dubravka’s agent Pavel Zika told Ruik that there was major interest in his client’s signature, including from a massive Premier League club who contend in Europe.

Now, The Chronicle claim that the club in question is Arsenal, reporting that the Gunners are in a battle with Juventus for Dubravka’s signature.

It’s believed that the Gunners would like to bring in Dubravka as a replacement for Cech when he retires this summer – somewhat intriguing as both emerged with Sparta Prague.

As a veteran stopper to compete with Bernd Leno, Dubravka fits the bill for Arsenal, but whether he would trade in a starting role at Newcastle for merely competing at the Emirates Stadium remains to be seen.
