Zinedine Zidane has decided to stick with Luka Jovic in a blow to Arsenal, according to Cadena Cope.

Arsenal had reportedly been eager to sign Jovic on loan from Madrid, but any possibility of that deal happening now looks remote.

Jovic has struggled since moving to Madrid in a £58 million transfer last summer (Star), and Los Blancos were thought to be lining up a huge money signing like Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe this summer.

However, the latest reports suggest that Zidane has now had a change of heart, and he believes he can make Jovic a success at the Bernabeu.

That could cause Arsenal to have to look at other strike targets, as they scour the market.

Arsenal are only thought to have a limited budget to spend, so completing deals could prove problematic.

That makes Jovic reportedly being unavailable a particularly big blow to the Gunners, as he could have presented an affordable option for Mikel Arteta’s side.

With Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette’s futures so uncertain, Arsenal are likely to need a new forward, with plenty of other names also linked with moves to the Emirates Stadium already.
