According to reports emanating from Spain, Liverpool are one of a collection of clubs interested in signing Monaco teenager Kylian Mbappe, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.

Reports back in January suggested that Liverpool were in contact with the Ligue 1 side over a potential bid for the 17-year-old (L’Equipe), who went on to break Thierry Henry’s long standing record at Monaco just one month later, becoming the club’s youngest ever goalscorer.

Mbappe plays predominantly as a wide attacker, is extremely direct in his playing style and possesses explosive pace, which would add a further level of potency to the Liverpool attack, should a move come to fruition.

The France under-19 international has made 16 appearances for Monaco in total, scoring one goal and chipping in with three assists.

Whilst he is clearly not yet the finished product, he is exactly the type of player that Jürgen Klopp is renowned for signing, and going on to develop into a top-class performer.

The report from Mundo Deportivo does not declare Mbappe’s estimated valuation, although L’Equipe reported back in August that Monaco had rejected a bid of £34.5 million from Manchester City for the teenager.

Liverpool won’t have things all their own way, however, in their hopes of signing Mbappe, with the report claiming interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs including Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Juventus and PSG.
