Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are now reportedly facing stiff competition from Bayern Munich for Chelsea forward Kai Havertz.

While it did look this week that Arsenal would find it relatively straightforward to sign Kai Havertz from Chelsea in the summer transfer window, Bayern Munich could now make it really tough for them.

The Telegraph reported this week that Arsenal have had a bid for the 24-year-old turned down by Chelsea.

The report claimed that the £250,000-a-week forward is keen on a move to the Gunners, and that personal terms would not be an issue.

Football Transfers had even reported this week that Havertz has agreed personal terms with Arsenal.

However, 90min are now reporting that the UEFA Champions League winner with Chelsea is open to moving to Arsenal or to Bayern in the summer transfer window.

Bayern are now in talks over a deal, according to the report.

Twist in Arsenal’s pursuit of Chelsea forward Kai Havertz

Just when it seemed that all Arsenal needed to do to sign Havertz was agree a transfer fee with Chelsea, it appears that the North London club would also have to convince the forward to move to the Emirates Stadium and not to Bayern.

It could be hard.

After all, Bayern regularly win the Bundesliga title and compete for the UEFA Champions League.

And the Bavarian giants now have former Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel in charge.

Tuchel worked with the forward at Chelsea.
