According to The Mirror, Derby County and Norwich City are both interested in signing Huddersfield Town defender Michael Hefele this summer.

Huddersfield won promotion to the Premier League for the first time in their history last month, and manager David Wagner swooped to land Belgian striker Lauren Depoitre from Porto on Friday evening.

Whilst the Terriers will be focusing on bringing players to the club in order to try and achieve Premier League survival, they may have to worry about losing key players as well.

The Mirror report that, not only are Burnley interested in signing striker Nahki Wells, but Championship sides Derby County and Norwich City are both keen on defender Michael Hefele.

Hefele, 26, joined Huddersfield from Dynamo Dresden last summer, as manager Wagner used his knowledge of German football to lure the 6ft 4in centre back to West Yorkshire.

Hefele, who hit five goals in all competitions last term, became something of a fan favourite and cult hero at the John Smith’s Stadium last term, and had been viewed as an important cog heading into the Premier League campaign.

However, Huddersfield may now face a battle with Norwich, as their new sporting director Stuart Webber – who left Huddersfield for Norwich – could drive a move to pair Hefele up with new Canaries boss and fellow German Daniel Farke.

Derby have already added Curtis Davies to boost their defence this summer, but with question marks over Jason Shackell’s future, Gary Rowett could look to raid Huddersfield for Hefele – and Wagner’s men may now have to start thinking about a new contract for the German defender.
