According to The Scottish Sun, Hearts are in talks to sign Kilmarnock defender Stuart Findlay on a pre-contract agreement.

It’s claimed that Findlay has held talks with the Championship leaders in an effort to thrash out a deal for the end of the season.

Findlay is inside the last six months of his Killie deal so can sign a pre-contract agreement elsewhere, with Hearts now favourites for his signature.

Alex Dyer’s exit at Kilmarnock boss has left Findlay considering his next move, and it looks like he will be heading to Hearts on a free transfer.

Findlay, 25, has racked up almost 150 appearances for Killie having spent time on loan there before signing permanently in 2018, and also has one Scotland cap to his name too.

Formerly of Celtic, Findlay had a brief spell in England with Newcastle United, and has often been linked with a return south of the border.

Hearts look to have swooped in though, with Robbie Neilson planning to make him a key part of the plans at Tynecastle for next season and beyond.

Christophe Berra’s age and John Souttar’s injury woes mean a new centre back is needed, and with talks underway, Findlay could be the man to come in.
